What a wonderful experience our West Hartford team members had volunteering with the Chrysalis Center Freshplace Food Pantry last week!

The Chrysalis Center, Inc. of Hartford, CT is a private, non-profit, socially innovative multiservice organization that serves individuals and families living in the state of Connecticut. Specifically, they help folks who are living in poverty, as well as veterans, women and children, young adults and individuals who are struggling with mental health, addiction, HIV/AIDS, homelessness and those returning from incarceration. Through job training, housing and other community healthcare services, Chrysalis Center helps individuals transform their lives by “Getting help…  Getting better…  and Giving Back.” Chrysalis Center provides supportive services to assist people in need to transform their lives.

The Freshplace Food Pantry is Chrysalis Center’s innovative client-choice, fresh food and case management food pantry located in Hartford. This pantry serves up to 100 families monthly living in the most impoverished neighborhoods in Hartford. Volunteers help to create an inviting atmosphere by helping clients shop for food, unloading and sorting donations, assisting with pantry inventory, and organizing shelves.

Thanks to our team members Nicole Bailey, Shane Reilly, Theo Marrinan and Justine Kelsey for inspecting and sorting donations, as well as stocking and organizing the pantry shelves! Another thank you to the folks at the Chrysalis Center for providing us with a tour and informational session sharing the many ways in which Chrysalis helps the community!
