GYL Parsippany Team Members Volunteer with the Morris Habitat for Humanity ReStore

June 25, 2024

Our Parsippany team was excited to partner and volunteer with the Morris Habitat For Humanity ReStore this week!

The Morris Habitat for Humanity ReStore is The Store That Builds Homes. Combining volunteer labor with both monetary and used furniture donations, this local nonprofit organization builds and rehabilitates affordable housing in partnership with families in need – there is no profit included in the sale price and no interest is charged on the mortgage. In fact, the homebuyer family’s monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving fund which is used to build more houses.

From 2019 through 2023, the local nonprofit Morris Habitat served over 540 families through new and rehab homebuilding, home preservation and international homebuilding programs. Restore activities will keep another 16,800 tons of used furniture and other reusable items out of landfills while providing funding to support our overhead.

Our team members Mike Green and Benjamin Green were tasked with helping to move furniture purchased at the store, loading pieces into the buyers’ vehicles or in the store’s holding area for pickup. Gary Herz unloaded incoming furniture donations from the ReStore truck and moved items to the sales floor. Bernice Ching and Deborah Molan sorted, priced, and moved holiday items to the sales floor. Excellent work, team! Thank you for participating and supporting the Morris County community!

A big shout-out to the ReStore staff for organizing this event and for the uplifting work that you do for New Jersey families. We can’t wait to be back soon
