Webinar Recording: Deglobalization and Your Portfolio

August 29, 2022

The fall of the Berlin Wall marked the beginning of a major shift towards globalization. In the years since, we have seen increased interdependence between the world’s economies, increases in trade between nations, and a growing number of corporations operating on a global scale. But events over the last decade—increasing competition between the U.S. and China, trade wars, concerns about vulnerabilities in the global supply chain in a post-COVID world, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and China strengthening economic ties with Russia—could mean that we are moving towards deglobalization. What does that mean for U.S. capital markets and your portfolio?

On Wednesday, August 10, we held a webinar to discuss these big-picture items with Anu Gaggar, CFA, FRM, Vice President & Capital Markets Strategist at Fidelity Investments. Anu and Gerald shared their insights into:

  • Deglobalization: what it is and why it matters
  • Navigating this new and challenging investment landscape
  • The potential impact of geopolitical events on capital markets
  • How the midterm elections could affect markets, the economy, and investors
