Westport Team Helps at Connecticut Foodshare

August 18, 2022

Connecticut Foodshare is the food bank serving all of Connecticut and a member of the national Feeding America network. Last year, Connecticut Foodshare distributed enough food to provide nearly 47 million meals through a network of more than 700 community-based hunger relief programs, including food pantries, community kitchens, and emergency shelters, while also working on long-term solutions to food insecurity. More than 8,000 volunteers help power the work of Connecticut Foodshare. Last year, they gave more than 62,000 hours of service.[1]

On Thursday, August 18th GYL’s Westport team members, Brian Marshall, Melissa Ciotoli, Ana Peguero, Karen Lexow, Netta Beason, and Keeley Greenwood performed quality control checks on food boxes that were prepared for the elderly.

They spent their time removing expired food and replacing those items.  Thank you to our team for your hard work helping such a great cause.  For more information on how you can help, visit https://www.ctfoodshare.org/
